Martin

Martin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Oregon State University in 1992.

Upon graduation, he worked at Nike Inc. World Headquarters as a problem solving U.S. Consumers Authorization Representative and served on the Chief Financial Officers’ Diversity Internal Advisory Board. He also recruited for Nike at the Oregon State University Job Fairs.

In 1994, he began work at Portland Community College’s Institute for Management & Professional Development in the Office of Business & Government Relations as a Business Development Area Director in B2B Specialized Management Training.

His branch of learning and teaching deals with the study of psychology, behavioral economics, spirituality and decision making.

He has written about human behavior for over 20 years and researched through personal experience, self study, observations and analysis for over 30 years.

Martin has a vast background in the fields of Education, Sales, Leadership Training, Mental Wellness and Communications.

He is a keen, reflective teacher, noticing things, trends and people. He is a member in good standing with many organizations such as Oregon’s Vocational Rehabilitation, Toastmasters International and AA. He serves on the Association of Pet Loss Bereavement and the Association of Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) as a professional member.

Certified in the State of Oregon as a Peer Wellness Specialist and Recovery Mentor, he has the emotional intelligence and capacity to meet individuals with Mental Health & Addiction issues thrive by passion and lived experience. Martin, is an open door member of National Alliance of Mental Illness.

He is in study for a Master of Science in Mental Health Wellness-Christian Ministry online at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Az, scheduled to complete in September 2023.

His aim is to simplify how human decision works and explain it in a way anyone can understand to better communicate with themselves and others.

His experience in dispute resolution, superior communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and analytical skills makes him a genuine mediator.

Experience is the only teacher while exercising humility to know that he is still a work in progress; increases his ability to overcome or meet any challenge.

It is impossible to be spiritually mature while being emotionally immature.

Character is the by product of personal responsibility and integrity.

Through writing he believes is a transformative process which helps people’s reasoning skills and therefore a new perspective to their story or life.

This life long endeavor leads him to make daily progress in his character towards excellence not perfection.

Do not misunderstand, he likes to have fun and enjoy family. His love of all animals is natural, especially his cat Beatrice.

Cast iron cooking, family and friends, learning, writing, driving, and music (drumming) are some of his delights.

I have realized that the past and future are real illusions; that they exist in the present, which is what there is and all there is.
